Fund Raising News and Plans for 2018
We are inviting our friends and supporters to "buy a brick" for our new Arts Centre in Kibera which will be run under our newly created CBO called Anno's One Fine Day. So for £15 you can have your name on a brick (or more than one!) on the wall of the new building which we hope will be completed by Christmas. The bricks can be bought via paypal on our donate page and if you decide to help us please let us know how you would like your name to be honoured in the message section or by emailing us directly. Thank you!
We are holding a “Ghetto Fashion Week” straight after Easter during the school holidays as an extra to our visual arts classes with a course in jewellery design and “Nail Art” sponsored and run by designer Hannah Warner. She has created a mobile “nail bar” which she will be donating to the older children and school leavers so that they can pursue careers in the fashion industry – working on catwalk shows, commercial film shoots , weddings etc. in and around the city.
And in April we will hold a fund raising event in Liverpool where we exhibit and sell art work from the children in Malawi and auction off the Ringo drum Skin, Daniel Craig Othello poster signed by all the cast, The shameless dart board and various other exciting things that we have been donated. This auction will be advertised on the night itself and then continue on line for a fortnight afterwards.
Finally, in July, Nick and Juli, the professional dancers who volunteered in Kibera in January, will return with some dancer friends and perform a show for us in Nairobi at various venues as a way to raise money “in country” towards equipping our new arts centre.
